Engine Block Numbers
Hi everyone.
Hope someone can help me determine what motor I have. I believe it came out of a 69 Cutlass, and it's painted bronze, and has the requisite 395558 2 in front of the intake.
The number stamped on the machined pad under the head is 32R127 9. If there is something in front of the 9 I can't see it. Also it has "7" heads.
By the way, is this a decent motor to build? Thanks everyone.

A '69 350 would have #5 heads from the factory. Are the head gaskets still steel shim?
Yes a good 350 block 68-76, not the weaker window main from '77 on.
The stamping on the block at the #1 cylinder can help ID the year.

The casting number shows this to be a 350 block. The "2" in the second position of the VIN derivative stamp shows this to be from a 1972 model year car. The "Z" in the third position shows that the car it was originally installed in was assembled in Fremont, CA.
Thanks guys. This engine came to me somewhat disassembled. No head gaskets, heads off and stripped. I've read someone is going to start making decent aluminum heads for an Oldsmobile anyway. I appreciate this guys.
