holiday coupe vs sports coupe
on a 69 cutlass does the holiday coupe have the vent windows on the doors and sports coupe has not. mine is a 69 ''s'' with cowl tag #33687 and i have the vent windows.can this be converted to a non vent style.

"Holiday" is Oldsmobile's term (dating back to 1949) for hardtop, just like Buick hardtops used to be called "Riviera." Not being a '69 expert, I believe only the post coupes and sedans had the vent windows but your VIN suggests a Holiday.

Correct, the post coupes and sedans have the vent windows. But they have full window frames too. If you have vent windows and no window frames, it sounds like you have '68 hardtop doors on your '69.

Conversion?
The post coupes will have an inset on the roof line to accomodate the post frames and the weather stripping. All the GM lines with framed door glass I've seen (60's - 80's) have the weather seal attached to the door. The coupes without framed glass have the weather stripping set into a molding that is fastened to the roofline molding. The rest of the weather seal runs along the inside of the door. I don't know whether the roofline is generic or not. Someone with expert knowledge, please step up to the plate??

The roof is the same, they just add the pillar to close off the rear window.
You can't just remove the frame from the door as there would be no way to seal the glass. On top of that it wouldn't go up far enough to get anywhere near the roof.

As for the OP's 1969, the VIN shows it to be a Holiday Coupe, which should NOT have vent windows. Either you have 1968 doors (not a trivial swap) or the VIN has been changed.

my vin matches the protect-o-plate, but sequence # on those do not match cowl tag sequence. vin= 224062 and cowl= 223714. why would someone change a cowl tag? also, i do not have the post between front seat glass and rear seat glass.so, if i have 68 doors, i should be able to change back if i can find doors with glass, right? anyone have any thoughts or ideas. thanks.

Yes, you should be able to use '69 doors, but I image the mating seals/channels on the body were changed to '68 pieces to make the door fit, so you may need those too.
What is the build date of your car? Code is on the body tag, like 10B.

What is the full model number on the data plate?

thanks for the help guys. i did some snooping in the parts book tonight to see if i can keep my doors and change glass to stock (no vent window). weather strip & regulator #s are different and of course the glass itself. i will start searching for regulators and glass tonight. if anyone knows that this swap won't work, please chime in.
