Exclamation Speedo Cable.

Hi all,
Can someone provide me with the original AC Delco part number for the speedo cable in a 1971 built but 72 model Cutlass Supreme 350 with 3 speed Auto Trans.. My cheap repop one failed and came out of it housing behind the dash pod. If anyone knows offhand the correct length that would be helpful also. Thanks in advance. I'm hoping to get a new one in before this weekend's shows. It's not fun driving at highway speed of 0 and keeping up with traffic ! LOL.

Your speedo uses a spring clip to hold the cable sheath in place. What exactly failed? Did the metal end separate from the sheath, or did it just pop out of the spring clip? If the latter, it may not have been fully seated in the clip. OEM cable assy was part number 6477218

You can get a replacement at your local auto parts store.

Hi Joe and thank you for the info. No the cable sheathing separated from the housing at the crimping, which was still attached to the clip assembly on the back of the speedo pod. Do you have an idea what the correct length is? 71 Built year but 72 model Cutlass Supreme, 350 with TH350 auto trans. I have seen lengths listed as 56 and 64 inches. I was thinking I should contact Ross Hunsberger since he is near me.

Thanks. Tony

Hi Jesse, I ended up doing that Auto Zone Pioneer CA-3005 and also CA-3001 At $21.00 for both I figured I'd get both so I have both lenghts 51 and 60 so I will have the correct one to match the old broken speedo. They will be in stock tomorrow, versus waiting 5 days. But did have to order the firewall grommet. Figures advance auto didn't carry them.

Let us know which one fits. I've seen 61", 63" and even 80" speedo cables listed. Of course, parts store websites are known to be wrong from time to time.
