W-30 auto carb

W-30 auto carb

Anybody try using a remanufactured carb from the parts place ? Is there somewhere to send my non numbers matching carb to to have it rebuilt to w-30 auto specs and flow tested. ?

I've never used a carburetor from the Parts Place.

What year "W30 auto carb"? Calibrations are different each year. The 1970-72 AT carbs are not much different from the regular 442 carbs. More importantly, is the engine a stock W30 or not?

Contact John Herald Jr. on Facebook.
He does a nice job of rebuilding(includes bushing the throttle shafts), fixing any damage
Builds to your specs or??
he uses ethanol resistant parts, and replates the parts to look new
And he does a test run on a real engine, adjusts the choke, idle mixture and secondary air valve
before shipping back to you
Other mods can be discussed

Factory carb would have been a 7040258.
Primary jets - 0.069" (7031969)
Primary metering rods 52C (7040701)
Power piston spring 7029862
Secondary metering rods AU (7033655)

X 2 on John Herald Jr.. he built a 251 carb for me to put on my 70 w30 car as I didn’t want to modify the factory carb. I sent him cam specs, compression , and all pertinent engine facts. First time it came back it had a lean shake, he sent me a shipping label to send back to me..He rebuilt it again opening up idle tube’s etc, tested it again and sent it back to me. Car runs phenomenal now..Definitely would use him..Straight up and honest.. here is his phone number. John 843-408-7416

Joe,
I have seen several articles from the 1970 era that showed/mentioned a 7040251 as a carb for a W30. Have you any knowledge of such a carb being used
on a 1970 W30? I know the 251 carb was used on other 1970 Olds 455s but have not "heard" of one on a W30...only 256 and 258s.

I'd be interested in seeing those articles. The only carbs used on the 1970 W30 cars were the '256 and '258. Are you possibly thinking of the 1968 W30? Those cars came with the '251 carb at the beginning of the model year, then changed to the '254 after engine unit number 8342491. Dealer Tech Bulletin 68-T-18 documents this change and instructs dealers how to modify the '251 on those early cars to run better.

Joe,
Thanks for the reply. I will look for the articles. All those Hot Rod and other magazines of the era are in a box somewhere. I pretty sure they were talking about 1970 cars. Of course, just because it said it in a magazine doesn't mean they were factually correct at the time.
