Interesting process. I cant help but feel they are kind of tight lipped and dont want to volunteer too much info. Jay keeps having to pry or ask what the next step is. I understand they are protecting their livelihood and monopoly on the process. They are pioneers in the process and I would hate to see some "fly by night" low budget conglomerate with money try and duplicate the business model and compete with the little guy. They have done all the hard work and research to get them where they are so I understand.

I am surprised that the shaping process is nearly all hand work--no molds. The craft people there are very skilled.

Molds like the factory used for the foam layer would be nice in terms of duplicating the various ridges, etc in the '70-2 Cutlass, etc dashpads. But then the costs would likely be crazy w/foam injection equipment, etc. I believe some of the subtle detail in the '70-2 pads is lost doing it "by hand". Still....cool to see the process.

 

I just watched it yesterday. Cool craftsmen still do some of the work and then some cool machines finish the process. Very neat.
