To start off not sure if I want to sell this thing yet but just trying to get a starting point. Bittersweet gold 1971 w30 Auto. Car has been on jack stands since 1984 inside it's an original 50,000 mile car I'm thinking of selling it no motor no transmission. Just trying to get an idea what a shell is worth I'm being told don't take anything less than NADA low book for the car. I do not have pictures the car has been in storage for years I haven't even seen it in probably two years.
Kind of having a change of heart and would like another El Camino or Nova I don't think that's possible with selling this car I won't sell it after all I got rid of those to own this car and I miss my Chevys.
The only dents on the olds are the bumpers it could use paint but it's a pretty nice patina piece

Without the drivetrain it's really just a 442 shell unless you have a broadcast card that proves it's a W30. The correct H heads are unobtanium. In any case, without detailed photos and a lot more info, it's not possible to provide a useful answer.
@joe_padavano is absolutely correct. It would be valued as a 442 shell without the drivetrain. The value of the W-30 comes from its "unobtainium" original engine parts. Please share pictures and this team can help. Or better yet, find a certified appraiser in your area to inspect the vehicle and give you an accurate answer. I recommend using the Auto Appraiser Group (AAG) to find someone near you. https://www.autoappraisal.com/
You two should probably get in touch with each other.

I'm hoping they mean minus the 25% that the option adds...
Yeah, nothing worse than owning a potentially cool car and not being able to use it. Especially for extended periods of time. It can drain your desire to own it. Driver fix as you go are the best because you can actually enjoy the car from time to time.
Going back to Nada, I think price guides at best are just a suggestion. An idea... I believe you have to come up with what you think it's worth (meaning what you paid for it or equivalent plus what you think it should be since then, etc) vs what the market will bear...
At the end of the day a verifiable 1971 W30 is worth a fortune. So you really can't insult anyone if you go too high. But it may not sell either.

I have the H heads and the OW transmission but I believe the short block to be a 70 and this car was a hot rod in the 70's
I have to ask. Why would you be looking to sell without the drivetrain? No offense but that makes zero sense to me. Joe said it first and others have to. Once you strip why it is what it is it just becomes one more questionable whatever. Stripping the original parts ? I just don't get why anyone would.
Now things are looking better for you.
Check the vin derivative on the trany and see if it matches the vin. It's located on the driver's side just above the oil pan. It is a shortened version of your vin. Does it have the OW tag on the opposite side ?
For what is worth, I've witnessed two (2) 1971-1972 442 W-30 4-speed coupe sales recently. Both were vehicles which had been stored 25+ years and required various levels of restoration. One ran, one did not. But both were totally complete and numbers matching. Both sold for $25-27k
1971: complete car but had not been run in 40 years. Small rust holes on every panel. Amateur repaint from early 1980s. Perfect interior. Engine was partially disassembled. Sold for $25k
1972: complete but rough, was off the road for 25 years. Ran and drove but needs complete restoration. Sold on eBay for $26,600. You can see pictures here https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...t-mine-158335/
In my opinion, a W-30 is worth more complete than in pieces. Please share pictures of your vehicle.
