Hydro-Matic - Carb? & Trans Linkage Adjustment

Hello
Looking for a shop that can do a small Carb?Trans Linkage Adjustment
South Orange co. California
I have a 50 Olds still has the 303 with a Vintage Duel Carb set up & Early Hydro
I had some head work done they did not get linkage adjusted correctly
I do not want to take it back to them
Their basic work on older cars is ok but their attention to detail was not there
I may try to do it myself but I thought I would reach out here too
It should be an easy job for someone with the right experience
The gas pedal hits the floor before I get into the passing gear
it seems to be off by about an inch or so
I climb a long steep mile long hill to get home
I can drive to you waiting while work gets done
my schedule is flexible
Hope to get it done before Fathers Day show
Thanks

3 suggestions:
1. Google Motors or Chiltons service/repair manual for that car/division/model year. Also, search that model & year of trans. Chiltons did make a separate manual that covers a wide range of transmissions. I have one that covers GM Chrysler Ford AMC et al...It's all-inclusive and very detailed. It covers the mid-60s to mid-80s analog transmissions. This trans is likely ready for service (100% fluid flush & filter). The books will help with this too.

2. For myself, I would approach this problem from a common-sense perspective. Is it a threaded rod adjustment at the throttle with a rod mechanism attached to the trans? Yes, make small adjustments a few threads in or out. Find out which direction improves the shifting. It's likely too far out/extended. Try shorting it up.
On a (more) modern Throttle Valve (TV)-controlled trans it's crucial to get this adjustment right or you will burn it up. Keep track of where you started so you can get back to it if needed. To do it 100% correct I would take pressure readings to dial it in. But the common sense approach will get you very close.

3. Look for an Oldsmobile club that caters to the early stuff.

And welcome to classic Oldsmobile. Pictures are strongly encouraged!

Mostly what Steve said, I have little experience with the dual carb setup but if you start with the open and close of the carbs in the middle of the linkage throw then move down to the transmission (long rod from carb linkage to transmission) and adjust at the lower long bolt, a little adjustment at a time this may get you where you want to be. This adjusts the gear selection and duration of the shifts. Too much and it will not hold in a gear, too little, and it won't shift to the next gear, a little is a lot so go slowly. It's too bad you don't have a picture of your old setup, as this adjustment is quite complex if you don't have an idea of where you were originally to start with... Tedd
