Clips for shock absorbers?

Getting ready to replace the original shocks on my sons 92 Yukon. Already did the front shocks, planning ahead for the rear.

I seem to recall seeing the clips or J nuts for shock absorbers in the Dorman or Help section. I can’t find a listing or part number. Sure, I suppose I could use nuts, but it’s so much easier have the nuts and retaining clips instead of trying to fit a wrench up about the frame.

O-Reily's & most automotive parts supply houses carry the J-Nuts (U-Type) in stock. I have a box of various sizes, but again, you should be able to find them at most parts supply stores - maybe bring the shock with you to match up the thread size. I had to replace a broken J-Nut on a front shock tower on my '71 CS when I changed shocks.

I don't know about the Yukon, but the clip nuts used on Oldsmobile front shocks are shorter than normal. I prefer this style as opposed to the original ones with the separate nut that breaks loose and spins.

i have plenty of those, people call those body clips. I suppose if they will fit over the frame they will work.

this is what I’m looking for. I’m almost positive I use to see them in the Dorman/Help section of the parts stores. I couldn’t find them in the online catalog, the counter help wasn’t helpful.

Thanks!!!

The problem with the generic j-nuts like those is that they stick too far into the opening in the LCA that the shock needs to fit through.
