I'm trying to find some history on my recently purchased 69 S Vin. The previous owner passed away but was an avid car collector and brought the S as a donor car for his 442 rebuild but thinks it was rarer than the 442. Its all original except the paint job which was changed from Saffron/black to Maroon/White sometime in its life.
Anyone have any idea where I can check the Vin for its history? Much appreciated.
1969 442 and my Cutlass S donor car

If the 442 is really a 1-of-25 W-32 convertible, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more rare car. Of course, proving it's a real W-32 is the problem. The Cutlass has apparently been modified, so "rarity" was lost with the mods. As for VIN history, that question is asked regularly. There are few if any resources available with that information publicly available.
Thanks for the info. The 442 is documented and has been certified.
What other mods do you see on the S?
Well, since no one would put aftermarket "Hurst Equipped" emblems on a real W-31 convertible in place of the W-31 decals, I'm guessing that the O.A.I. system was added, for starters.
I know that was added by the previous owner, but it's not meant to be a W31. Just looking for some history on this particular car. Thanks for your input.

You implied that you thought the Cutlass was somehow more rare than the 442. Why do you think that?
