Moving and need movers.

Morning guys and dolls well we are moving. The Olds and R/T are going into storage boo hoo. Moving from South Carolina to the Kentucky Albany area. Getting too busy, new subdivisions popping up all around. Anyway, Would anyone have any suggestions on household movers? I’ve had one bid of $9000.00, my furniture might be worth that. Might as well sell it and buy new. Civil service retired employees can’t afford that. Me me me greed greed greed it’s a shame. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Oldsmobilejim
Update:
Went with a local young man starting out in business. He has three trucks and has good reviews. He came to the house, very impressionable, licensed and insured. I do try to shop local.

You know guys we've been looking in the Kentucky Tennessee area. What I notice in small towns, if there are big box stores in the area the town square stores fronts are vacant. If no big box stores, small shops prosper. I know the big store bring jobs, but at whose expense. Thanks for all the feedback!!! Oldsmobilejim

I rented a Uhaul truck and Uhaul has a service where you can hire and schedule people to load and unload your stuff. I was very happy in how it worked out.

I moved a year ago. I had one of those large movable storage brought to me and I filled it up with all my car parts, tool and any thing that did not have to be packed carefully. It was a 16FT. Then my wife and me packed up all the house hold things, and then on moving day, the movers packed up all the furniture, and loaded the boxes. I think it was less than 3K, but I only moved about 40 miles.

Be sure to check out the cruise at Somerset since you will be in the neighborhood.

When you move , you will find out who your REAL friends are .
They are the ones who will show up to help you .

I've rented Uhaul trucks and used the Uhaul "hire help" service three times and I've been very happy with the results.

Believe it or not, I’ve moved twice with ‘Two Men and a Truck’. Great service and value.

Just trying to help the OP save a buck here.

In addition to Mayflower, add Allied, United, Gentle Giant, Colonial.

I used a local Terre Haute firm for a couple things, then I used 2 men and a truck to get the last bits out of my apartment. Bed, couch, loveseat, treadmill. They were amazed I had shrinkwrapped the couches already. Good dudes. Then I called in a move from friends that they owed me from a decade ago for other stuff.
