Value of a 215

Hi everyone.

I may have asked this before but I couldn't find it. Does a 215 V8 that's been sitting full of water have any kind of value, or should I just lift it up and heave it onto the scrap pile? This engine ran, barely, years ago when I pulled it out and it sat covered. The cover wore thin and before I knew it, it was exposed and now years later I need to move it. I don't want to toss it if it's worth anything.

Thanks everyone.

Do you mean water in the water jacket or in the cylinders. If the latter it's probably junk.

Wayal... aluminum don't rust.

I'm like you. Hate to scrap anything someone might have a use for. But this might be one of those times if you need the thing out of your way.

Then watch someone show up screaming for it the day after you haul it off.

Thanks guys. It's full of water the crankcase, the cylinders, after I saw that its cover had come off and I knew it got rained on, I just said the hell with it and left it. So years later it's still in the same place. It's a four barrel motor, maybe the intake is worth something? Can you reline the cylinders and clean the block up and use it? Maybe I could make race cars out of the valve covers. Who knows.

No, but it does turn into wheat paste... (Ask me how I know). And of course the cast-in steel liners and every steel fastener and the rods and the valves and the crank all rust (and sieze to the aluminum in the process).

I'd say hit up the usual 215 users like Jensen if they need parts, then chuck it.

There are a few parts of interest to folks. The rocker arms and shafts, if they are not trashed or worn. A 4bbl intake. If the heads are salvageable, they might be useful. The rear heater hose elbow at the back of the intake is always popular.

For sure save the intake manifold. I know a guy that was looking for a complete set of original head bolts if they are good. Not sure if he still needs them or not.
