Radio id help
Preset buttons look more 69-70 and I don't think stereo appeared till then unless the car had that big clumsy 8 track and multiplexer underdash. Even then wasn't it only available on BCE cars? What year did they ditch the separate stereo amp?
I believe 70 had a separate amp in the A-Body and 71 up was integral I believe. The 66 Salesman's guide shows AM/FM but doesn't mention Stereo.
I'm calling that a 68/69 Olds Big Car Stereo Radio with SOB (some other brand) ***** due to heatsink location to the side, separate multiplexer, and the late 60s double band dial that doesn't switch with mode like 70-72 does. Does it have a number on it, or the pictures all you have?
Mike, my guess is 1968, wrong *****. I have a lot of books to look up all brands of 60's-80's maybe radios if the tag is there. I believe all the output transistors have a date code on them. That's the DELCO thing in the heat sink. Yours says 68. 1968 big car, because I don't think stereo was available 'til 1969 on an A body. I'm thinking maybe not a Toronado, though.
