Flexplate recommendations

1970 Olds 442, mild upgraded 455. Is the stock flexplate ok? Any recommendations on an aftermarket flexplate? Thanks.

I didn't take chances on a 50 year old flexplate, so I purchased a Pioneer brand for a reasonable price.

Inspect carefully around the bolt holes that mount the flex plate to the crankshaft and the flex plate to the torque converter. Cracks tend to start at one of the bolt holes and spread outward. Also inspect the bolt holes for elongation of the hole. If nothing found torque to specs, if shims removed with starter make sure you reinstall. It likes the engine and the engine likes it.

Stock flex plate is fine. I would trust it first over any aftermarket oem replacement.

Its rare a flex plate cracks, usually a starter will eat the teeth first.
