1965 Cutlass instrument cluster

Hi all, I have posted in the past regarding my problem with my right turn signal dash blinker not working. I have determined the fault is in the circuit board. I can not see if there is a tear in the copper foil to that socket. Has anyone removed only the circuit board from behind the cluster or am I looking at removing the whole cluster? Has anyone repaired these boards?

If you are asking about removing the printed circuit while standing on your head under the dash, no. Pull the cluster and work on it on the bench.

Ok, so after the cluster is removed is the copper foil repairable if that is the problem?

A break in a copper trace can be fixed with a soldered jumper wire. This is extremely common PWB repair. If it's a broken or loose pin to the connector, that's a different problem.

I know it’s not a broken or loose pin. So how exactly do I solder this?

At the risk of being a smart-***, with a soldering iron. It's just copper PWB. Make sure the copper is clean, that any over coating is removed, and be as quick as possible to avoid damage to the underlying plastic. If you are not proficient at soldering, find someone who is or risk damaging the plastic substrate.

Maybe a soldering pencil, something small and low powered.

I haven’t done much soldering where I would feel comfortable, so I would most likely have it done by someone who is more familiar. Thanks Joe
