Does anyone know how to break down the cables and ***** from the mounting bracket. Want to have ***** and bracket re-chromed.

 

Be careful because the ***** are very difficult to reattach. I had one come apart some years ago and a aircraft mechanic friend reattached the **** to cable by using a special aircraft fixture, said it was common in the aircraft industry but seldom used in the automotive world.

If no one has a answer for you I can probably get a name of the unit I still do business with him upon occasion..... Tedd

 

As Tedd mentioned, those ***** are wicked hard to detach from the cables without breaking. Here's a cutaway to show why:

 

Thanks for the replies, guess I am stuck with hand polishing my originals. Every time I see these controls at swap meets the ***** and base plates have issues
