Has anyone ever attended this?
A week long cruise along the gulf with venues and entertainment...looks kinda fun.

There’s a swap meet in Biloxi...wonder if thats any good.

I was there Friday and Saturday a couple years ago. It is about a 30 mile strip of the coast from Biloxi to the west end and there are events along the entire strip with most of the action at Biloxi and Gulfport. Did not see many Oldsmobiles but it was still fun and the beaches are great. I see that The Beach Boys will be there this year for a couple shows. Registered entries to the car show and various events totaled more than 7000 in 2016!

 

Interesting. I hadn't heard of Crusin' the Coast. Doesn't seem like there is as much driving involved as Power Tour.

The Power Tour is an arduous amount of driving.

 

I was thinking about going to Power Tour in 2020. Power Tour or Cruisin' the Coast wouldn't be as bad in my 96 Regency Elite. The 71 doesn't have AC and I hope to sell it soon.

 

I am there every year for the past 15 or so. I live close in LA. It’s a great event. It’s not like Power Tour. It’s kinda like a bunch of events at the towns across the Mississippi coast that all have daily events throughout the week, Bands at the all stops, car auction, swap meet, burnout contest, autocross, etc. If your registered you get reserved parking at the stops. You get a card that gets stamped at the stops kinda like a poker run that you turn in for prizes. It’s got like 10,000 cars registered now. It’s a great event and you can drive to the events and towns as much or as little as you want. I’ll be there. We stay at one of the local Casino hotels all week.

Really? Gosh, sign me up. I like the Beach Boys' music as much as anyone, but this ain't 1965 any more. The four members of the current version of The Beach Boys are ages 77, 78, 77, and 77. Just my idea of what a rock-n-roll band should be.

Here's a photo of the Boys from Wikipedia from 2011, when they were all "only" around 70 years old. It includes one of the group who is no longer with them. Both of my parents are in assisted living or a nursing home (and I'm not far behind them), and this looks like the weekly sing-along in the building lounge. Whatever it is, the idea of these guys singing "Surfer Girl" just doesn't do it any more.

 

Its a decent swap meet. Not brand specific and a lot of the typical vendors selling newer stuff also. You probably won’t find a bunch of rare parts but I always walk away with something! It will take you 3-4 hours to walk through the whole swap meet.

 

I am going again, have been there the last 10 years. The swap meet is pretty good, a lot of new parts vendors and used parts too. Its a pretty good rolling car show, several venues in a 30 miles stretch. Ill be in my 67 Vista Cruiser.

 

Only 30 miles, my piece of junk wouldn't even make 10.

 

Sounds like fun, maybe I should sign up. BTW, I love the Keystone Classics on your Vista Cruiser!

That's nice. I remember the Power Tour last year, so many of the cars were just new Corvettes, driven by new Corvette owners. I got on the interstate, and you couldn't dream of the left lane because of the 100 mph plus flybys of new muscle.

 

Nah. This isn’t like that. You will have newer cars cruising the streets but only registered cars can park in the reserved areas. It does get a bit crazy at night with a few stoplight Burnouts and stuff, but it’s all in fun.
