Is that a transfer case mount as in a older Chevy 4x4 with a Turbo 400?

The four bolt tailhousing pattern (as opposed to six) and square pan with the notched corner back up that observation.

Yup. Chevy-case TH350 intended for 4X4 transfer case.

Not sure what it would look like but there was a company called Eagle Overdrive bake in the 90's that bolted on the back of the tail shaft. The other company that I know of is Gear Vendors. It looks to small to be any type of transfer case.

It's not a transfer case. It's the bigass cast-iron adapter that the transfer case bolts to.

I missed the Chevy bolt pattern, from the side and a quick glance I was thinking BOPCad trans.

^^^THIS! It is simply the adapter that mates the transfer case to the trans. It is NOT an overdrive. It is NOT a transfer case. It is just an adapter casting. And yeah, I realize the ones in these photos are not exactly the same. There are about a bazillion different transfer case adapters, depending on the actual transfer case and application.

Joe is correct, really, the only difference between a 4x4 and a 4x2 trans is, if it's done right, the case itself. If you do the transfer case right, it's a direct bolt on, but sometimes you need an adapter.

Now, the legendary All Makes Combined AMC did use an overdrive that bolted on the same way the transfer case did, and they may have been the same transmission. A transfer case, after all, is only an engageable chain drive, and a gearing reduction.
