AC and power brakes with w-30 cam
AC and power brakes with w-30 cam
I have a 71 442 with ac and power brakes. If I were to rebuild the engine to w-30 specs would I have to get different pistons (compression)?
I know the 328 cam is unique to w-30 motors and if I installed this in my engine with G heads and power brakes and AC would I have a problem with anything?(ac & power brakes)

The 328 cam was used on the '70 W-30 stick motor only. You do not want that with an auto trans, and with power brakes you won't be able to stop. (not enough vacuum for the power brakes). I think you'd have all you can use with the 409759 '71 W-30 cam, and you'd appreciate being able to stop.
How about if I went with the 294 degree cam (71 w-30) and stayed automatic?
How about if I went with the 294 degree cam and converted to a 4spd. and kept all accessories?
Would I still be able to run ac and have power brakes.
I guess I am confused because correct me if I am wrong but no 71 w-30 4spd cars came with ac right?

You can check out the stock cam specs yourself.
A custom grind is not a bad idea, though. Can be more tailored to exactly what you want.
