So for starters, The OldsJetfire site seems to be down. With that said, Who has replaced the parking lamp lens gaskets for the 62 Olds F85 Cutlass? Steele does not have them and they most likely wont make them , even though they make the rears. What is the best material to use?

I have made hard to get or impossible to find lens gasket material from black gasket material 9x11 sheets found at most any parts house, trace and cut with exact o knife or sheers..... Tedd

Were you the one that posted this question a couple months back on the Jetfire forum? If so you already know my answer. I molded a set out of clear silicone. There are You Tube videos about silicone mold making that helped me. Use water and LOTS of dish soap. I am talking about 1/4 bottle of soap to a gallon of water. Then squeeze some silicone into the bucket of soap and water. Keep soap on your hands and reach in and mix it up till it starts to harden. Keep your housing and lens soaped real good also and then just work the silicone into where it needs to go. Press in the soaped up lens and leave it till the next day. Pull the lens back out and then trim the new gasket. I have some pictures of some I made at home. I will try to remember to post them tonight.

Long and somewhat expensive process for such a minor part but it works. I have NOS ones for my car but just wanted to see if I could make them is the only reason I done it.

Here is a picture of the first two I made. They would work but not all that great. Now that I know what I am doing I took the time to modify a junk parking light to turn it into a mold. I don't have a picture of my newest ones but they are much better than the first ones I made. They are far from GM but also far better than nothing. I will try to get pictures of the nicer set I made.

Just an FYI, The Jetfire forum is back up now. I will try to post pictures of my newest gaskets tonight. I would sell them if you want to try them. I would want $20 shipped for them if you want to try them. I would bet I have more than that in them but just wanted to see if I could do it or not.

Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Joann Fabrics, if you have those in your area, they usually have black high density foam, 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick that you can make gaskets with. I used some for various gaskets on my car. Worked great.
