1956 Olds Paint Help
Good afternoon community,
My '56 is getting to the paint stage in the resto process and I'm having a hard time figuring out the paint code on the cowl tag. The paint code is S52-50 and I know the paints are (52) Charcoal Gray Poly. and (50) Sterling Gray Poly. but what is the S before the paint colors? I've read some stuff online and they make it sound like it means "Special". If this is the case, what aspect is "special"?? Was it painted in a color scheme that was special (Custom ordered paint scheme) or was the way that it was painted "special"? There were threads that talked about the roof being painted a different color than the truck and hood, etc. Does anyone have a clue?
