Paint Match

Two months ago I scraped my right front fender pulling my 72 Cutlass "S" into my garage! It wasn't dented, but boy what a job matching the paint! Nobody locally had sophisticated enough cameras to match the paint with their equipment! Finally the body shop had to bring a guy up from Jersey and his equipment made a match! The way I understand it, GM hasn't room in their computers for all of the paint formulas so they throw out the oldest and least used, Flame Orange having been one! I always figured that damaged trim parts would have been hardest to replace! I never figured on the paint!

i went through a long process with ppg on the phone to get a paint code wich was updated and suppoused to be the color of mine the poly gold but it was way lighter they gave me another code and said i have to mix the two together still was too light also those olds paint codes are still on alot of computer systems along with formulas. Unforutnantly our paint line at our shop is more modern but i have a big sheet with all the olds paint codes for ppg paint from 1966-1975 ill have to find em
