1970 sport mirrors

One parts supplier I use for my 70 cutlass supreme, list sport mirrors for my 70 as being the same up to 77 ! Could this be right, I though the bases where different . If so , I have 73-77 Cutlass sport mirrors setting around. Any thoughts ?

'70 sport mirrors are completely different in every aspect from 71-72 and up mirrors.

Be careful here. There is definitely a difference in 70 and 71 up mirrors. I have 70 mirrors on my 72 Cutlass. I am on my 2nd set of mirrors from TPP. And 1 from OPG. None have fit correctly. They are too large. I took the last one to a local glass shop and they trimmed it to fit. I did not realize the mirror was convex and glued it in backwards. Now I will need to do it all over again.

70 only for the Cutlass/442. 71-72 Cutlass/442 and 70-82 Camaro/Firebird mirrors will fit the door contours with the correct base gaskets. 73-77 and 78-88 Cutlass/442 mirrors are too long and don't sit level on the 70-72 doors.

That same vendor has (or at least had) the motor mount applications wrong also...

The 1971-72 Cutlass mirrors will bolt on just fine, will look and fit well. Olds nuts will know they're different shaped than the 1970 mirrors. But if you don't care about that the 71-72 mirrors are more common and cheaper than the 1970's. John

This link will go to a Buick page that keys out the 71-72 mirrors.

71-72 Cutlass/442, 70-81 Camaro/Firebird, 70-72 Skylark/GS 70-72 Lemans/GTO 70-74 Nova all use the same mirrors. Just use the door gaskets from the 71-72 Cutlass/442 which are available new.
