Spiffing up raised white letters (Coopers)

I have a set of Cooper raised white letter tires on my Cutlass and they are sort of shabby...not curb scraped but just yellowing a bit and not looking as good as they should.

I used to use sos pads with soap in them and also Westies tyre white (sp).

Heard that there are much better ways and wonder what you guys with the raised whitewalls use? Don't want to coat the tires with the gook that bleeds and runs in the rain or smears over onto the white letters.....I'm old so need something that is doable for an old duffer..many thanks

Lacquer thinner works really well. I have some red line tires on my Super Bee. They were far from red and looked pretty bad. I read on line that lacquer thinner works well. They look like new now. I’ve also used it on raised white letter tires too. It’s so hot that it evaporates really quickly and doesn’t harm the tires. Give it a shot! Al

I still do the Wesley's and Brillo pads. I also use quick detailer when I wipe the body down every now and then.

I use Westley's with either a bug scrub sponge or a nylon bristle brush. Have also used Ajax / Comet cleanser and it worked very well.

If the white letters are real bad and the cleaner does not work, or you just have a couple letters that got marked hard, from a curb, I take a small sanding disc wheel, like a dremel and sand them down till they look new.

Been fortunate so far in that there are no curb scuffs on the raised whites...just some brownish discoloration and a general dullness to the tire and to the white lettering.....I used to use the Westy's product all the time back in the 50's and 60's and even though it is supposed to be a different company I seems like a product that would be fine for mildly discolored tires....Being crippled up it's hard for me to get down and aound but I'm thinking a long handled bath brush with the "bleeech" product and a good rinse might work fine.
