More on the Chevy Nationals at Carlisle...

"All GMs welcome" my @$$. Here's the list of "invited" display vehicles. How'd that one token Oldsmobile get in there?

Note that they even have a Pace Cars display - also without any Olds.

It says you have to submit a request to display form. Perhaps no one except the one with an Olds requested?

So you have to ask to be "invited"? I realize it's the 50th anniversary of the F-body cars, but still. Given how much flak they've gotten from the non-Chevy owners, you'd think they'd make a LITTLE effort...

This the top paragraph with the link highlighted.
"Invitational display(s) feature vehicles ranging from classic restorations to full-blown customs. Some events will highlight and feature anniversaries or themes. If you would like to have your vehicle considered for a Carlisle invitational display please complete the invitational submission form and follow the instructions below. If applicable, please include copies of any articles that have been written about your vehicle. We will review applications and notify you by telephone and/or mail if your vehicle has been selected. Vehicles selected to appear in the Invitational will receive free admission, on-grounds parking, a goody bag, recognition plaque and photo in our event magazine. Your vehicle will be displayed indoors to the general public for three full days."

I find it difficult to believe that only one Oldsmobile owner submitted an application to be invited and was fortunately accepted... Not to mention zero Buicks... JMO

In today's times they need to be politically correct and allow at least one in. Looks like Buick and Cadillac have grounds to file a lawsuit due to them being left out.

I always vote with my wallet. Don't attend the event but write/email them with your displeasure. If they hear loss of revenue, it gets their attention. I bought 500 postcards of Amazon a couple of years ago. I read that politicians/businesses will read a postcard than a letter. Jmo

I find this odd.. You are upset about them picking and choosing other makes of pace cars to be part of a CHEVY!! nationals.
Are buick,Pontiac, chevy, caddy, ok to roll into the olds national shows?

You are missing the boat here.

This USED to be the "GM Nationals". This year, and without warning, Carlisle Events renamed it the "Chevrolet Nationals", apparently because they got some sponsorship money. The original announcements had fine print that said "all GM brands welcome". This line has become more prominent on their ads as the outcry from the non-Chevy owners got louder.

Based on that, YEAH, I expect other GM brands at the "Chevy" Nationals.

Undoubtedly should have kept it the GM Nationals. I don't see any advantage to the marketing change. What were they thinking?

I had a lengthy discussion about this with the Carlisle Events showfield manager at Spring Carlisle. It turns out that the name change was due to Chevrolet providing sponsorship money in exchange for the naming rights. This piece of information has not been publicly disclosed as far as I know. I pointed out that had this been mentioned when the Chevy Nationals were announced last fall, it might have mitigated some of the bad feelings among the non-Chevy owners (not all, but maybe some... ).

Welp, I'd think (I know I know it's that assume thing) That when a brand is the title, that money changed hands to have it there..
As far as the new cars sales, g.m. there isn't any olds or Pontiac,
Buick is now catering to blue hairs and young females, neither that most likely show up at a event like this.

People like tradition. If it was normal to have every group with some representation, then it would be normal for some people to feel left out of the new format. Eventually even those who felt they were still welcomed will dwindle and then those groups will no longer be represented at this event. That's the sad reality of it all.

My take on it is to be as inclusive as possible within the GM brands both past and present. Yes, there are no new Oldsmobiles running down the assembly line, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't go out and by a new gen Camaro because I just can't keep my eyes off those things for some reason.

So marketing it as a Chevy show in the hopes that people will buy a Chevy or have some sort of brand loyalty...well I'd say it is more so just brand recognition. People know Chevrolet because there are tons more of them on the road vs any other GM brand. But truth be told, I'd rather have a Pontiac or Olds vs a Chevy.
