Engine start up

Getting ready to start rebuilt engine. Is it recommended to put coolant in it or can I just get buy with water initially. If any leaks I won't be wasting coolant.

Water is fine, make sure your hoses are tight.

X2. If no leaks, change it out within a day or two as coolant is also a corrosion inhibitor.

x3. Never do a first start with antifreeze - if there's a hellacious leak that you missed, it will be all over, and you'll be much happier if it's just water.
Put antifreeze in after you've proved that the system holds pressure without leaking.
