Preparing for return to SBO power in wagon
Preparing for return to SBO power in wagon
Just an update on what is happening on the ole Poncho powered flat top. I probably will just run it a couple more times in the next month or so at the track before pulling it out. I really need to replace freeze plugs and go ahead on the rod upgrade. I did finally put the HV mechanical FP back on and a regulated 1/2" fuel supply to carb but by my slicks are really dry cracked and need to be replaced . I may borrow some for next race though now that hot summer is over. The Poncho will be coming out in November or December and the engine planned for my Rallye will go in wagon first (Rallye is gonna take a while)so it can become a full street use cruiser and part time racer. I scored some new in box Hooker headers for the SBO yesterday ($100) and tomorrow a used collector to axle aluminumized 2.5" H pipe flowmaster set up for another $100. This 355 is the ported head big valve #6 70 350 with forged 6cc dish 030 over OEM 4 speed 286/286 cam with 1.7 SBF rockers about .490-.500"lift. Should like the heads and 2500 stall 9.5:1 run good A/C driver anywhere and work on the appearance body paint stuff and gets some miles on the 98k ole girl.

Well it's an original 68 400 4 speed 442 cam with maybe 80k miles I paid $20 for but my educated guess is about 210 @ 050, 114 LSA . The 288 rated by GM, Pontiac cam is 212 so I figure the 286 GM rated Olds cam is near 210 likely

Yeah, 93 is common here. I think it will be ok. This engine will eventually get a new larger dual pattern cam after testing and also once transplanted to the 4 speed Rallye but realistically it may be in the wagon for a year or more first.
