Talking My new to me '70 442

A few years back I sold my '70 Cutlass convertible to a fellow member, thinking I wanted something else. After having a '79 TA (403 powered0 the last few years, ends up I didn't want something different. So the TA was sold off & I am back in the A-Body game. '70 442, confirmed matching #'s, orig TX car, one repaint in the '80's, all original body panels. Couldn't be happier. Very hard to find a car in this shape in NY.

Beautiful color combo, hard to beat Twilight Blue, especially with a white top and Interior. Looks to be a real gem, lucky you.

I second that. Twilight Blue is a gorgeous color. The white really makes it pop.

It lived its life in TX up until around 2006. I'm still piecing together the ownership history. You can't fund cars this clean in NY unless they've had a body off restoration.

more

When you 1st posted this car over on ROP you were told by some to run away because of the body issues in the fenders. Some suggested that the car was worth as little as $5000 US.

Glad you bought the car. Enjoy.

How did you make out on the buy price?

Congratulations Ron!

You definitely found a gem with this car. To purchase a 442 in that condition, with documentation, that killer color combination locally here on the island is a true find!

Can't wait to check it out in person one of these days. Drive it well!!

Well I finally seen what we have been talking about for the past few days.

Looks like a pretty straight and unmolested car! I like it, of course I am partial to blue.

That is a great looking car Ron!
Any plans for it or just drive it for now?
I was thinking maybe buckets/console 4 spd conversion along with OAI if you get bored.
Looks like a solid car either way, congrats.
I hope you have it tucked away from the snow you must be getting.

Purty. Is that a vinyl top or painted? I like the color combo, I think that
is what I will go with on my project with a black interior.

Sure, just send me the parts

Safely tucked away in the garage. Plans include getting everything in tune & replacing the carb. Its got a pretty new quickfuel on it on an adapter plate but I want to go back to a QJet. Also need to check into some bubbling on the bottom of the front fenders. Otherwise rust wise it's spotless.

Tires will need to be addressed. The ones on there look new but are 30 years old.

I would do a tune up and check all hoses and belts and fluid changes and a fresh set of Goodyear ployglass tires and change nothing else. that car is gorgeous!!

No biggie Ron! Don't change anything on that car! Except those tires and sprak plug wires.

I have a few more resources that I can corner. I just wished I could have been working during that era. My ex-father in law worked in plant 1 from 68-2002
