"Z Code" cars in 1970

I know that this a very long thread! But we have recommended color combos that have Z on them.

I'm not convinced it's color combos. I have a Fremont built 70 442 convertible that was Sherwood Green, Saddle bucket seat interior, white top with gold stripes and no Z. I can't say for certain but I doubt that's a recommended combination. It's almost impossible to read but the build sheet has some kind of option code on it and "color comb ex" I've never seen that before either

Yes, the thread is so old that much of the beginning topics are getting repeated. What I was told MANY years ago has turned out to not be true. I don't believe we will ever know and I would suspect it was an internal code that had nothing to do with the cars options.

That's because the "E" on that cowl tag indicates Linden, NJ. Fremont would have had a "Z" for the assembly plant in the top line.
