Wrong water pump? Pulleys don't line up

My crank and water pump pulleys don't line up. They are both correct year 3 groove for a/c. Is it possible the parts store ordered the wrong water pump? The water pump pulley looks like it sits in too far. I don't understand because the original water pump looks to be the same length as the new one

The flange which the fan bolts to is pressed on the shaft. I have had water pumps that were correct for the application but the flange was not positioned correctly. I distinctly remember the last time the flange was pressed on too far. Pulleys would not align. You may want to check it out.

The a/c water pump is taller than the non a/c one. I ran into that on my 70.

I'm not sure what you mean? My issue is the water pump pulley sits too far in so the grooves don't line up

Just trying to help - is it possible you stacked the crank pulleys wrong? they look freshly painted, and IIRC its a 2-v and a 1-v pushed together.

I've installed a washer or two on each water pump stud before to move the pulley out a bit?

I am pretty sure it's right. Don't worry I won't take offense to any suggestions. I am a rookie when it comes to this stuff

Did you have the Harmonic balancer off? (looks like engine nice and clean) Wondering if maybe balancer isn't in as far as it was?? Or if only thing you changed was water pump then not that....

Looks like the wrong water pump.

KC crank goes with KF water pulley and a 5.6" pump.

There are 3 water pump snout lengths. 5.1, 5.6, and 6.1
Looks like you have 5.6 pulleys and a 5.1 pump

It's easy enough to measure.

Would there be a chance here that you can get (like the chevy) a short and a tall water pump?

Also as Greg Rogers mentioned re the harmonic balancer. Is it on far enough, just stood out to me as soon as I saw the picture.

That's what I meant. Way better explanation but I guess I was on the right track.
