wow to view rallye 350 photo of cars awaiting stripes outside lansing

I keep coming across a line about rallye 350's sitting outside in the snow awaiting stripes in an old lansing photo.
How do I go about viewing that photo? Is it available to see on this website?
I would love to see that.
Anthony

I posted a small writeup in the Newbie section if anyone wants to see photos of a Rallye 350 Post car that my wife is purchasing in a couple weeks.

Yes, the package included hood, rear wing, 442 suspension & notched rear bumper, 12 bolt rear & a few other mandatory options.

All striping was decals & the lansing assembly plant didnt recieve them in time to put them on while they were coming down the assembly line.
All Rallye 350's were assembled in Lansing.

My dad was an Olds dealer, and it seems like I remember the vent windows hitting the sport mirrors when you tried to open them all the way. Anyone else experience this?

Not all had wings..... and vent windows on both cars do not hit the mirrors.

I guess I never noticed that some Cultass models came with exposed wipers. What dictated that?

That's cool. I have never seen a Rallye 350 without a wing. I always thought that was part of the package. Nice cars. 👍

Question number two. Are Sport Mirrors in the same location on wing windowed cars as non wing window cars?

I always loved the black and red on the yellow.

Originally the wing was part of the option, later it became optional.

Post cars had the mirrors mounted much further back than hardtop non vent window cars. If post cars had the mirrors mounted where the hardtop mirrors were mounted the vent windows wouldnt open at all.

Unless it was built in Canada (which is none of the Rallye 350s), I'm pretty sure all '70 Olds A-bodies had a Type-O rear (10-bolts on the ring gear, 12 bolts on the cover).

Throughout my years of growing up doing nothing but cars & working in my uncles junkyard back in the 60's when I was 11 years old any time I ever heard mention a (12 Bolt) , rear end it was in reference to the number of bolts holding the cover on.

I agree with you -mostly.... 12 bolt refers to the # of bolts that hold the ring gear, which on most GM rear ends also is the amount of bolts on the rear cover. EXCEPT the Type O rear end which has 10 bolts holding the ring gear, and 12 bolts holding the rear cover. I rebuilt one in a 70 Vista Cruiser.

When I first bought my 69, I thought I really got lucky when I crawled under it and saw the 12 bolt cover. I uickly got a education on the Olds “O” axle. I was a naive 17 year old kid. I needed to do something, when I bought the car, it had 2 vastly different size rear tires. You can imagine what that did to the factory limited slip. The rearend was making some god awful noise. I changed the gear lube, the stink was unbelievable. Gear oil stinks anyway, it’s one of those smells that just soaks into everything and lingers for weeks.

I found a real 12 bolt a few months later, paid 75 bucks for it. Definitely one of my better purchases. The O axle lasted long enough for me to scrape together enough money to buy a limited slip carrier and install kit. The rear came with 3.31 gears, so that’s what I used. The O axle had 2.78, so the 3.31 were a big improvement.
