Wire wheel cover/wheel question
I have a set of NOS wire wheel covers (RPO N95). I'm wondering if they will fit on SS bolt on, or snap on wheels. I don't want to try mounting the wheel covers 'just to see' since they are NOS. I know that the N95 covers needed a deeper rim than standard to fit, but don't know if the SS wheels have that profile. Does anyone know for sure? Not looking for a 'just try it and see' answer.

Allan, I've never seen a wheel cover put on a SS wheel before. I wouldn't be surprised if the SS wheels have a different profile that prohibits a wheel cover from being used. Then again, don't the RPO N95 wheel covers use a special mounting bolt vs. the later style tension fingers on the outside of the wheel cover?

Thanks Jesse,
There are no bolts on the N95 wire wheel disc. Had the same kind of fasteners as the trim rings from what I can see. I know they won't fit a stock 14" wheel because it's too shallow. Hence my question about SS bolt on.

Allan, I think it will clip onto the lip, but may hit the SSII trapezoids while going across the rim. Recommend mocking up something with an SSII trim ring and a pizza box cardboard to simulate the backside of the wire rim and try landing it.

1966 N95 wire wheel covers.
I bought this car in 2016. It is a 1990 paint job using the correct "Target Red" color. The top was added that same year. It came with SS1 wheels and Koker Red lines. The tires and wheels were pretty well used up. I bought a set of GM 14X7 rims. Had the blasted and painted black. Had no caps so I liked the look of the 1966 N95 wire hub caps with 3 wing spinner. Purchased a good set and proceeded to do some restoration work so here I am. I bought the car specifically because it is a factory 4-speed. I love driving her.

Allan, do you want to know about the fit of your wheel covers to sell them, or are you just curious? If you want to sell them you might include a link to this thread. It would be a shame to test fit those NOS wheel covers, they're flawless!

I'm on the fence about selling them or keeping them. I knew they wouldn't fit a standard wheel but I have 2 sets of SS that I wasn't sure about the fitment. The N95 wheelcover really needs something like the WW tire or redlines to make it look its best. Right now I have blackwalls on one set and RWL's on the other. I love the look of the SSII and SSIII, but I also wanted the option to show the car off with the wire wheel covers. You just don't see these everyday. While I know the 14" isn't all that prevalent anymore, there are some of us who still use them. And yes, IF I decide to sell them putting a link here will be a good feature. So now if I do sell them, I guess buyers could decide what look they'd want for their car on a specific day.
I see cars in the 66/67 era that never had SSII or SSIII sporting them, so maybe it's an idea to advertise them at some point. For the purist 1972 collector these are absolutely concours quality.

Those look like wire wheel covers from 1973/1974? Brian. They have a wider flat lip compared to 1972. They would look even better with WW tires imo.
