Wiper motor question

I want to buy a new wiper motor for my 1972 Cutlass.

Looking around auto parts sites, I notice they have wiper motors "with demand pump" and "without demand pump".

My question is, what is the demand pump?

Thanks for any help.

I have no idea.

Never heard of the term.

As far as I know, all '72 A-body wiper motors were 2-speed, depressed park, with built-in washer pumps.
I suppose some bottom-of-the-line F-85s could have had non-depressed park motors, but I've never seen one.

Unfortunately, in the "modern age," calling the auto parts store to ask will just get you a "Huh?"

Anybody else ever hear this term?

I would guess it is the windshield washer pump that attaches to the wiper motor. I can't think of anything else it could be. The ones without the pump should be less money.

Okay - it could mean "This motor has a washer pump attached to it" and "This motor has no washer pump attached to it."

If so, then why couldn't they just say that?

I was checking one place and they had 3 wiper motors:

1) with Concealed Wipers; without Demand Pump; Motor without Washer Pump
2) with Concealed Wipers; with Demand Pump; Motor without Washer Pump
3) without Concealed Wipers; Motor without Washer Pump

Others are also baffled by this new term that snuck in unannounced:
