I say 'detail' because I refinished it rather than rebuilt it as it was working fine. I glass beaded the housing and painted the housing Aluminum color and 'knocked down' the sheen with .0000 steel wool. I painted the armature 'cup' with Chrome paint to replicate Nickel plate. I finished it off with a reproduction washer pump that has the correct white pump assy and Black plastic cover from Ground Up (it came in a Parts Place box though). The Julian sticker has not arrived yet. Sorry fro the blurry pictures, I don't have a steady hand.

last image looks great. I have seen some canisters that look silver some black - do you know was there a variety or is it supposed to be plated (zinc or cadmium etc.)

The guy I use for wiper motor restorations plates the cup cad. He does Vette wiper motor resto's for Bloomington Gold cars.

Mike, it looks really amazing. Knowing your car though it probably came out looking better than a new part from the factory! Great work though - I like the 'chrome' look on the armature cup. I understand about not rebuilding it if it's working good. I did that with my PS pump and gearbox.

Some sites that restore them (for $245.00 and up) have the canister plated and I liked how that looked so I went with that. I don't know what the 'rule' is. I also knew that the canister would be mostly obstructed/hidden so I could 'get away with' the chrome paint over plating. Total cost was $49.95 for the new washer pump assy and $7.00 for the decal that I haven't put on yet - the paint and tape I had . Thanks for the compliments.
