My car will be going in for some paint work soon, including adding an OAI hood. & sport mirrors. Car will remain twilight blue with a white vinyl top. 90% sure I want to do hood stripes but what about a wing? I keep going back & forth.
It's kind of a personal choice Ron. Adam is right it would look good with both. Me? Naw, I think the deck wing is overkill especially since it's only along for decoration. It has absolutely no functional value. For it to have any impact at all the car would have to be going well over 110 mph, which probably isn't in the cards.
Personally I think your car looks super sharp right now. Did you buy some good used sport mirrors or using the knock offs? I know they're available but have heard a lot of conflicting stories about the pot metal brittleness and paint adhesion.
Definitely a personal choice... I don't think anything bad can be said for any of the choices... I would have chosen no strips with spoiler, but that was not an available choice...
It's your car, do whatever you want to it.
Some of us will applaud leaving it as is. Others will just as enthusiastic for a roof chop, donk wheels, psychedelic paint job, slamming it into the ground. or anything else you might think of.
You are the one who has to live with it. Maybe one thing to consider is if you ever want to sell it as a rule the closer to original it is the better price it will fetch.
It is your car...
I might even just do white peril ghost strips on the hood..
Sadly the import wings have killed my liking them , I used to like the look on the cutlass and the Pontiac Judge.. . but They seem just as dumb as the imports adding them.. So I'm on the fence.. But it isn't my car.. Do what you think looks good, and you like..

Roger.
I love the look the way it is!! .... but I also agree with Roger.
OAI hood with stripes will add value and look great, but no more wings/cheese slicers please.....maybe its age creeping up on me or just getting tired of the same old stick-on part look, but I've added wings to my two previous cars with OAI and this time elected to leave it original to be different.
Either information was missing or I missed it. I voted hood stripes /no spoiler because I wasn't sure which A-body (Supreme/convertible/Cutlass S or 442) I don't like a spoiler on the Supreme/Supreme convertible. Jmo. If I knew for sure it was a Cutlass S or a 442, I would have voted both, go for it.

It's a 70 442 hardtop. I had pics but you might not be seeing them. Thanks
If the budget allows buy another deck lid mount the spoiler and have it painted. Then you could swap between the two when the mood strikes. Parades and car shows you could wear the wing and for weekend cruising go without with just a couple of bolts.
Your 442 looks great with the standard hood and optional pin striping. Bugs me when '69 W-30 stripes are applied to a '70 standard hood.
The '70 sport mirrors always complete a Cutlass or 442. As for the spoiler, excepting the Rallye 350, I personally do not like the spoiler on a '70 model.
I was torn about installing a W-25 hood on my '70 442, but I decided to keep the standard hood - where the only Oldsmobile emblem is affixed.

I kind of thought that too, but as Ron says, it's getting one. Hopefully the OEM hood will be kept
The OEM hood will be stored. It has some paint damage but is otherwise really clean. When the car was painted they actually took some effort to maintain what looks to be a factory marking, but I'm not sure what "080" means.
Someone asked about the sport mirrors. They are a factory set I got from Ros68-72. Very nice set.
Some background on this - in HS I had a '71 442. This was before kids had credit cards. I saved my $$ & my mother sent a check to JC whitney for a hood & a wing. They took forever to ship & in the meantime I blew the engine & cancelled the order.
I already have the hood in my possession. Need to make the call on the wing.
I still say buy another deck lid and mount the spoiler on it. Have both deck lids painted. Wear the wing for car shows and parades. No wing for weekend cruising.
I like both hoods, but having the standard hood is almost a novelty with all the OAI hoods. They've gone the way of pin stripe whitewall wide ovals, which were standard on non W30 442s, but you never see them. I don't think they are reproduced anymore.
As far as the spoiler goes, I feel they ruin the lines of the fastback and on the Supreme bodies they are just hideous in my opinion.
I like your final decision.
