wing windows interfering with mirrors

I have a Rallye 350 advertising printout that states that if you have a post model rallye 350 your vent windows will not open all the way because they hit the mirrors.
I just checked the vent window operation on the Rallye we are buying & the vent window clears the mirror by about 1/4 of an inch, so is this bogus info or did olds fix this during production?

In an unscientific comparison of random photos of cars of unknown history from the internet, it does look like the mirror was moved back.

While I don't have a Rallye 350, I do have a '71 Vista Cruiser and it has the vent windows. Personally I think the mirrors are way too far back on the door to be usefull. I have to physically turn my head to the left to see anything out the mirror, whereas in a '68 Caprice 2Dr I had (1st year for no vent windows), I could just glance over to see through the mirror.

For my VC I plan to make a mounting plate to move the mirrors forward, and yes they will clear the vent windows.

When I put rally mirrors on my 72 VC, they did not clear. so I would think on the Post cars they did move them back some.
