Window Sticker

Any suggestions where I may locate replica window stickers and VIN# info?
One source stated www.vinsolutions.com does for a $35.00 fee. To me that's okay but not if I have to list all the equipment myself. Shouldn't that be included in their $35.00 fee?
Also, this same source stated www.vin.localbuzz.us gives you free info pertaining to the car that that VIN# is registered to. Once re-routed, I was led to a site that charges a fee, of course!

Thanks

No site can replicate your Oldsmobile pre- '77 (?) car's original window sticker without a list of the equipment and the V.I.N. # decoding data is usually minimal info compared to an original sales order, window sticker or build sheet. The best site out there is

http://www.ultra-high-compression.co...rsforsale.html

As far as your V.I.N. goes just post it here and someone will decode it for you. You don't have to post the complete V.I.N. Just everything but the last six digits which you can post as xxxxxx. More often your trim tag in the engine bay will give more info than the V.I.N. Post those numbers and letters as they are, or better post a pic and someone will decode that for you as well.

Thanks guys for the Window Sticker info. I will contact TK-65 soon.
I am sorry if I lead anyone astray regarding VIN# description. What I wanted to know was where I could run an in depth search where that car has been/it's history. Since purchase, I have learned quite a bit.

The problem is of course "data" upgrades, as it went from manual filing in cabinets to store info, then computer input and as new technology improves, memory fills up and the years tick by, system upgrades and eventually much of your 35 year old or older car's "history" seems to be lost in cyberspace and older than that is stuffed away in a filing cabinet somewhere unless discarded as useless . Unless it was Canadian built then you may have access to almost everything you need just by contacting them with your V.I.N. alone and a few $. Hope this helps.

The short answer is, you can't. No such database is maintained. We'd all love to have that information, and sometimes you can do some searching using state title agency records, but somewhere along the way, privacy laws will likely come into play that will block you from getting too much detail.

Services like Carfax exist to give you repair info, and some of that can help pinpoint somewhat were a car has been, but that's only for '80s and later cars. There's nothing at all out there for '70s and earlier cars.

You're probably lucky you were able to find out as much as you did about your car.

I reckon I am lucky! In fact, I was almost tempted to run a search for original owner's phone number! My stepson suggested we drive out to Calif. - especially on a school day, to ask original owner for any pictures of the car. A source informed me a member on this forum had acquired it a while ago, I have yet to hear back from him. One thing for sure, I love the research
