Smile window regulator issues on 1980 cutlass..pls hlp

Hey there, Im installing drivers side regulator on 1980 cutlass supreme with power windows.I have everything out and ready to install but my replacement part doesnt have the assist spring on the regulator.Identical parts but It doesnt even have a spot to transfer over the spring.Do some years not have the spring?maybe the car i grabbed it off wasnt the same year.Do i have to take the post off with the notch in it and weld it on the other reg.? Does anyone know why these regulators are different? and can I still use what I got. Thank you so much for helping

Im I going to still be able to use this.Or do I have to tranfer over the little post with a notch in it and spring to the other regulator?Id have to weld it on..Its weird how some models didnt need the spring assist.Any body have any info for me on this? thanks very much
