Window gasket supplier advice

I am planning on replacing my rear window gasket on my 64 Dynamic 88. Any opinions on a reliable manufacturer and supplier. I have the package tray ready to install but I need to repair window leak first.
When the window is removed I am going to sand prime and paint the window opening. I have narrowed the area the water is entering the window.
Thanks in advance for your help

Have you looked at USA Parts Supply Page 85 of catalogue http://www.usapartssupply.com/upload...75_catalog.pdf
or Steele Rubber (part number 60-0559-81)

Appreciate the connection and the correct stock # Surprised by cost. but I am getting window pulled and replaced for only 60.00 by a pro. And he is also helping me with package tray install.

Go to AutoZone, get part #MW38115, $13.99, It is 3/8" X 15' of Windshield ribbon sealer, I have used it several times for classic cars, works great. run it around the channel, set windshield or rear window in, then it is best to let vehicle sit in the sun, stays semi flexible, have never had a leak. Just used it resetting rear window in 66 Starfire.

Steele Rubber the absolute best way to go. Great customer service, and will work with you to correct whatever problem you have with the installatin. I speak from experience.

The 1964 car does not use ribbon sealer. It has a full-surround rubber channel gasket both front and rear.

GM switched to the tape sealer in 1965 on passenger cars and had a hell of a time with it for several years- my folks had a 69 Impala that leaked the day they bought it, and never sealed right until both glasses were finally pulled and resealed. Turned out the primer that goes on the glass surface for the butyl tape was apparently never put on at the factory.

'Course by the time my mama had finally raised enough hell at the dealer over her leaking car that they fixed it, the interior was about ruined. She did force them to replace the carpet and underlay as part of the repair, but the seats were water-stained and always had a musty smell. Took a year and a half of constant badgering before they quit gobbing sealer in the channel and pulled the glass.

Vet, I don't think you'll go wrong with Steele. None of this type stuff is cheap, but Steele has a good rep in old car circles. Should be the same part for all the GM B-body carlines. You'll have a worse time r&r the bright trim out of the rubber channel than anything.

Very cool website; added it to my favorite list. Limited parts availability though with decent prices as you say. What's their quality like? Do they make their own stuff or import it?

Rocketraider a few points. I didn't think the car took a ribbon sealer. thanks for the confirmation. Looking at the trim I am not looking forward to the removal but I will have pro help from a local window tech.

If you end up breaking the glass (God forbid!) I do believe you can get replacement glass for it. Take your time removing the old channel and you should be good. You'll probably need someone inside the car to push it out when the channel rubber has been cut down enough. I don't think that glass used any type of adhesive - I believe it was pressure fit. On the reinstall use soapy water to lube the glass into the channel. Your local window tech will probably have the tools you need to seat the window properly.

Hey Allan, Thanks for the tips.I am still amazed at the cost of the seal kit! Aside from the
fear of breaking the window I am concerned what we will find in the channel. I know there are some rust issues, and the seal itself is well aged and cracked. I am planning on the worst but hope it is just cosmetic surface rust. But I can't replace the package tray or install a new speaker until it's done. Thanks again
