Who is going to Detroit Autorama in Feb
I was pleased to have my application accepted for the Detroit Autorama in Feb and hope to meet some more of the members from CO. My 1970 has been vacationing in Michigan waiting for the show. It will be shown for the first time in Day Two attire. So those of you that have seen the car will enjoy the new stylish look of the old bucket of bolts. It was time for a facelift since the car has been out a few times. I know you will like what I will be presenting. Stay tuned and let me know if you are attending so I can meet more members of this Forum.

I thought more peope would be attending this show. It is supposed to be much larger than the Muscle Car Nationals MCACN. Glad I will get to meet a few new members. There will probably not be too many Oldsmobiles. James' Green 72 w-30 award winner, Jason's car and my bucket of bolts so far that I know of.

Autorama has a range from million dollar show cars (Riddler Award) to rat rods (basement) and cars that really shouldnt be there at all. My club coupe is a mix of the latter two.

James always has a car in there. Like mentioned there will hardly be any Oldsmobiles as usual. I like the rat rod show. I plan to be there with a few other StreetRocket members. Maybe friday.

Lee, congrats on not one but being pictured & mentioned in two articles in the current MCR. IDK if anyone has approached you about doing a feature but I'd love to see one. Its a sweet car with a neat back story.
Just curious, did it come with the poverty caps or are they added?

The car was ordered with the poverty caps and here is a picture one month after the first owner bought it dated 4-70 and look no poverty caps! Rug was always going to put the slotted mags on the car. No features except the nice center piece that JWO magazine did on the car May of 2011. All of the magazines don't have travel budgets and can't come out to do a article.

In the blue collar town that I lived in, the W31's that were bought in 1970, pretty much all [12] came with poverty caps AND trim rings.[ Nobody but nobody ran just poverty caps by themselves.] I installed aluminium slots as soon as my wallet would let me. The popular wheel treatment were Cragar SS's, but I preferred the slots.

Only a few more weeks. I went to the LA Roadster show yesterday. Wow! If Autorama is anything like that event huge crowd and great cars. In the lowrider building there was a car that was so over the top that the others looked a bit dull. Great cars at the show. Look forward to seeing and meeting some of you. Lee

I leave in one week for Detroit. I have been wearing shorts all winter here but don't think I will be needing them. It is cooling off here to get me ready for the weather. Supposed to be 65 here today. I can't wait for the show and to meet some more of the CO members.
My car will have a new look at this show. See you soon.

I made it today,Lee has a very nice ride there and it was nice meeting him and looking over all the cars.I will post a few pics tomorrow,or mabey figure out how to photo bucket stuff(im old and really have no clue about it).All said it was a good day, nice steak dinner in lake orion on the way home.Only one thing that bummed me was no oldsmobiles older than 1961,i really needed to look at one and get a few good shots for those final finishing touches (you know the stuff i cant remember taking apart)on the interior trimmings.Glen ps;it was way better than being at work!

I went on Friday. Really enjoyed the show and took lots of pictures. I will try to get them online tomorrow and post a link.
Lee, as I said when I met you at the show, your car is amazing. I also saw your car downstairs TK-65, but didn't see you around it.
