What's New Today??

Its been a while since I posted anything on here. I thought I remembered a "Whats new" thread where members were encouraged to write about what was done to/ with their oldsmobile today. If that thread still exists please move this there.

Let's start by saying that it wasn't my week. Or at least it was my week for the car gods to test me...

Last Sunday my 2013 F-150 5.0L threw a check engine code and would only rev up if I gave it full throttle. I scanned it: Lean in both banks, checked things out, found that my K&N Filter cone fell off (whoops) so I pulled and cleaned the MAF sensor and drove it. Problem came back, but now rich in both banks. It almost left me stranded so I took it to the dealer. Then ended up cleaning the MAF sensor again and said it was good... We'll see

In the meantime, since the truck was down I had the perfect excuse to knock the dust off the oldsmobile. So I jumped it, pulled it out, went and got a fresh battery, fresh gas, went for a nice cruise and fell in love again. The next day or so I took it for another cruise and on the way back into the neighborhood, (luckily!) it started running real rough and barely stayed alive to get home. I got paranoid that I finally did it, blew the valves, doom and gloom. So I went in and pounded a Busch and came back out to check things. I found 2 vacuum lines disconnected from their respective locations. Hooked them up, spun the air and fuel adjustments back and forth a little, and she's running like a top again. This car never lets me down. I took some photo's of the body to send to my friends dad who does body work. I'll post them on my next break to see what you guys think. Toss up if it's worth it in my opinion. Anyways that's my update for today! Living the dream

Welcome back, Eazy. Yes, there is such a thread, called What have you done to your Oldsmobile today? I'm not a Moderator, so I can't move your entry. I'm sure one of the Mods will do so shortly.

Also, forgot to mention a couple things/ have a question or 2. When the car was running choppy I pulled the air filter off the carb and noticed it was pretty black in there. I could wipe it off with my finger. Once it was all said and done and I got my truck back and the cutlass running up to snuff I got a little confident and decided I would pull a plug to check things. Of course I ripped the plug wire out of the clip, so gotta fix that later today. Then once I got the plug out I decided I might as well check my compression since I've never done so. I didn't do the test right (just screwed the gauge in there and let it rip). I didn't know any better, I'm ignorant sometimes. Anyways I took a video and the gauge looks like it's hitting about 120psi so I think that's good. I think the plug looks fair, maybe a little hot? What should I gap my plugs at with my 350 4BBL and HEI? What should I test for with the black stuff in the carb? Thanks folks.
