What were the exhaust manifolds of the 394s made of? What is the makeup of the iron? Is this a generic term? Were these cast in a foundry or injection cast? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks

 

Sand cast

 

for years, the story was cheap grade cast iron, people have been doing tests, and even back in the 60s it was pretty high quality, and surprisingly good quality..they send samples in and get the results back..shavings etc..

i spent a day just reading about manifolds..

i googled welding turbo flanges on stock cast iron manifolds and holy crap was i surprised..alot of "wrong" info out there about make up etc...i doubt you will find the make up of those manifolds, but there enough info out there to help and give a good insight
