what thermostat???
i have 1968 442 with a/c. what degree thermostat should i use? the engine is the original 400 and never messed with. some catalogs have 3 different ones.
also read somewhere to test new thermostat in a pot of boiling water. to make sure it works. any comments on this???
my car needs a waterpump so while i'm at it i am going to do the--
waterpump
thermostat
belts
timing chain
new hoses
any waterpump recommendations? thanks

180* is a good all around temp.
Do the boiling water test on yer new one, too. A 180* one should start to open at 180*. Also it should open smoothly, not pop open at 20* above the rated temp. MANY seem to do the latter. I also installed a new one a couple years ago that stuck open on the first drive...
Better to know about a defective one BEFORE you get it all back together.
As for H2O pumps, get a NEW one. The remans last just as long as their warranty + 3 months.
