In honor of my Grampa's birthday (who would have been 95 this year), I drove around really fast in my cool car, and jumped it, laughing, when the lights turned green.

Here's a picture of Grampa (on the left) with his first car:

Ha, thanks! But, no thanks Just getting to the point shown in the picture was a pretty intense amount of work. Now I have all the individual parts to get to the same condition.....sooooo much to do but it's going to look beautiful all back together!

Nice job on your car too!

Secret Project Revealed

I have been working on a project since February. It is finally done. I made plugs, molds, and then the parts for my 91 OCC. The project is fender skirts with the profile of the cladding. I took a couple of preliminary pictures with my cell phone. The pics are not of the usual quality I like, but you can see the results. I think the car looks longer and lower.

I will make copies available on a prepaid made to order basis for $279 shipped for the first 10 orders.

I supply the fiberglass parts, and instructions on how to install them. You will have to paint the part to match, and supply mounting hardware.

I installed an under dash oil pressure gauge with copper tubing. Then I got my mechanic buddy to tweak my carburetor a little bit.
It was a good day.
I'll see some of you at the Oldsmobile Homecoming Show this Saturday in Lansing, MI.

Working on the 307. Replaced the front motor mounts, timing chain, water pump, intake manifold gasket, lots of vacuum hoses, and all the engine sensors.

Installed new dash insulation pad and firewall pad in preparation for my Vintage Air install.
While I had the gas pedal assembly out, I took it apart and cleaned it. I noticed that the pad itself was off one of the holes anyway, I always thought the pedal looked crucked.
Anyway, I took the bracket and arm to the wire wheel on the bench grinder and cleaned off all the old paint and rust. I then resprayed it with a couple coats of Eastwood under hood black and put it back together. Then I installed it back into the car.
It looked really good after I was done but I forgot to take a picture. I always forget to do that.
A LOT more work to fallow!

Well I finally took my trans out and installed my new flexplate. Had it out in just under 2 hours . Not too shabby. The fun part will be putting it in. Im installing different headers than before so exhaust work is in order.

had a new accelerator pump put on my q-jet, got it cleaned up a bit by a buddy that rebuilds them... marked the timing mark on balancer and adjusted the timing and discovered 2 huge exhaust leaks.

heading to O'Reillys for manifold gaskets.. the down pipe tightened up to the end of manifold - appears to not use an asbestos gasket??

To start I flushed out the heater core on the Cutlass. Then I reinstalled the radiator and filled it up. Then I took it out and put in a new driver's door window regulator. And finally installed the sail panels and temporarily installed the package tray and rear "door" panels.

Better pics of the 91-92 OCC fender skirts. Most people think it came this way. They must look factory. Some people do not believe I made them.

Did some cleaning up of the trunk area in preparation of the new trunk floor and to get an idea of what I had to fabricate for wheelhouses and drop offs. In the process, my son snags his arm on some jagged sheet metal. Because he just had a kidney transplant in September, I didn't take any chances. Spent a few hours at the hospital getting it cleaned out and stitched. Another Fathers Day spending quality time with my son.

2Olds4U, hope your son and you can look back on Fathers day in the future and laugh about it! I am in the same boat as you as far as the trunk pan goes, and I am at the flip the coin point on whether to cut it out or just spot weld it up! Spent today redying my dash took a long time to get it right. Have to finish the bottom half tommorow.

Thanks, 442rocketdave. He was more pissed because we were making great progress and he interrupted the flow. After we got back from the hospital I looked to see where he got caught. Hmmm, must be that piece right there with the piece of skin hanging off it! The worst work is pretty much over now though. Just a lot of fabrication to do. Geez, I wish somebody made the correct trunk drop offs. I got a complete, correct trunk pan with all the braces. So many are made for Chevelles, but this was made specifically for 66-7 Cutlass.

Today I completed installing a new fuel pump (old one worked fine but is 44 years old) and an OEM 4 row radiator. Gonna be towing our vintage Airstream up some California mountains this summer.

Cleaned 37 years of engine dirt and grime from the engine bay. Sanded and painted the air cleaner lid and topped it off with a nice rocket 350 sticker. The rest of the air cleaner still needs to be painted.

Spent about $1000 in parts today. Got a bunch from oldspackrat, The Parts Place, and eBay. Installed new accelerator pedal, and brake pedal pads. Finished off the trim piece for my under dash radio holder from w70442. Now I just need to install it.
