What have you done to your Oldsmobile today
#82
Bought the wood and wheels to make a dolly so I can remove the body off the chassis and get it in the shop. Finished the brake pedal and clutch pedal and the parking brake. Now on to the Steering column, dash and the rear inside door panels.

Took the totally sun baked buckets out of one of the cars and put a decent temporary seat in the driver's side so I can move it without sitting on pillows and phone books (what are they?).
Then I took a good look at the other 67 to plan how I will replace the trunk floor. Can't be done with the body on the rotisserie. Got a super, made for 66,67 only trunk floor last week. Looking forward to next weekend!

Guys:
Just got the front and rear control arms primed and ready for chassis black paint today, the frame will be here on monday from the media blaster. I have the etching primer all ready bought, ordered all the new center link, tie rod ends, sleeves, idler arm and link pins also. I hope to have the rolling chassis back together in a couple of weeks, then it is onto the new inside floors, 1pc trunk floor and the rest of the awesome sheetmetal I bought from2blu442 a few months ago. Still have a long way to go though!
Thanks Ron

Finished up repair of heater core and attempted to get antifreeze out of the carpet. It's pretty good now but I'll have to continue the effort. Still smells a bit. Hopefully I won't have to replace the carpet.

I spent 2 hours cursing and "bonding" with my convertible trying to get the negative battery cable bolted to the block without taking off the Power Steering pump! it is STILL not bolted on, had it on once, but the bolt was too long! GGGRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I removed my car from its sleep this past weekend. Its been there since past labor day. We have put a bunch of miles on it this week with no problems.... Oh yea...still gotta fix that quarter window.
Getting it out now makes me envy you guys in the south. We received 3'' of snow just a month ago. Anyhoo, on with car season.

Guys:
Well the chassis and attaching parts have been primed w/ etching primer and will be painted w/ chassis black before the weekend is over, then it is on to putting it all back together. Bought all new grade 8 bolts/nuts to use. I should have it in rolling chassis form by next weekend, then time to install new lines and other misc. hardware. Still a long way to go though, my father would be proud of the progress. I get choked up just thinking about him each day.
Thanks Ron

Got the black one ready to replace the trunk floor tomorrow. Did some cleaning up of the white one and really wondered what someone was thinking, after seeing the beautiful turquoise paint underneath, why they changed the color.

9:00 AM Today I will install a Performer intake and a Quick fuel technology 750 cfm carb.
4:30 PM, Well that was a bust! Got it all together and took it out for a spin, kicked it down and really did good, kicked it again and it fell on its face.
Got home looked around and oil is all over the place behind the intake, I thought the dist was leaking around the mount.
NOPE, it blew out the stupid Ultra Black permatex between the intake and block all the way across!
That is the last time I do it that way.
I have never had the rubber gaskets blow out.
So now I have to order some more gaskets.

After spotting a fuel line leak at startup last weekend, I changed that line. That got me thinking about the fuel pump, so I pulled it and dropped it in the parts washer. Today I pulled it apart and installed the kit. The diaphragm was definitely showing a wear area. Now to install it and replace the rear fuel lines.

I washed the ol girl. She was dirty . Took her to one of my favorite cruise night spots and turned heads as I creeped down main street with the sound of my olds making tunes any gearhead cannot avoid noticing. Im taking the trans out this week to put in a new flex plate . Should be a fun week.

replaced the ignition key tumbler last week, found the steering wheel cracked through to hub - got a new Grant
Installed new wheel and am having a host of issues with getting the horn to work right and understanding all the connections to the horn relay ... ie key minder? Weird stuff going on with door jamb switch too...
Ordered a Service Manual and a large schematic today -
...to be continued (I hope)

Did a quick spray wax job on my '72 convertible, got a '70 Toronado started & running. Did a couple little burn outs in the '72. My grandmother & grandfather drove my/our GTO to a local cruise spot with us this weekend.

Took her out on store run...warmed up and running great. One or 2 ricers out on the street... Go down the main drag...
antsy Jeep the tailgater dashes from behind me to the left lane, and it's on...Open up the 403... Jeepman almost hangs with me, then I look again, he's gaining? Oh, out of revs, grab 2nd gear, get rubber, get pushed back in the seat... Jeepster cannot keep up. Good girl!

Decided to go for the throat and replace the entire trunk floor. There was too much wrong to piece it out. After hours of drilling spot welds and ripping panels, at least I got the old one on the ground. Got a little dismayed at the extensive rust on adjoining panels. I even thought of abandoning the whole thing and putting my efforts on the other car, but I persevered. Gotta make some wheelhouse patches and put the new trunk in during the next couple of weeks.

Started car for first time. Then off to fix leaky carb. Then put it backon.no leak, but poof one of the starter wires caught fire. Got the fire out. Now gotta check wires. I think the culprit is the purple wire that I pinched when putting starter in. Stupid freaking headers. Knew I should have kept the original manifolds. Really wish I had......

I know that feeling on my El Camino.... the Cutlass will keep its original exhaust manifolds....

This is what I did .....
I started mine up, it's been a while.. Put in a new set of points / condenser & replaced the foam air filters with paper ones. She's still not hitting right.. Tomorrow is a new day. The points /condenser did help. I haven't driven this car over 10 miles the last eight years.. Been gone (USMC). This will change this week, on vacation. Most likely needs a good run, with some fresh fuel.

Wrote an email to Rebel Performance requesting a confirmation, if they had processed my order five days ago and actually shipped the 770 CFM Holley Aluminum Avenger I had purchased from their Ebay listing. Paypal sent me an email the same day.
Kind of disappointed. All of the other merchants I have had transactions with through Ebay have been sent immediate email confirmations or reciepts and nearly every other product has reached my door in 2-4 days with their standard free shipping as offered.
Reciprocating assembly for the '70 350 that is being reconditioned and totally balanced should be done this friday. Includes Speed Pro flat Tops, new balancer and a Flex Plate to work with a 200R4.
I haven't really posted until now, but I am building my daily driven '85 Cutlass Supreme Brougham into sort of a pro-touring machine. With a 1970 350, #6 heads with 2.07 int/1.68exh valves, port matched to an Edelbrock RPM intake and topped by a 770 CFM Holley Aluminum Avenger.
Bores are .030" over. Stuffing them with flat-tops. The rest is pretty much stock with ARP fasteners. Lunati double roller timing chain and their VooDoo cam 268/276 Adv duration 227/233@.050", .510"/.522" and 110*lobe seperation.
Headers to x-pipe. Undecided mufflers?
And I am keeping the Air conditioning.
Will have 4 wheel disc brakes, be lowered an 1", improved sway bars and dampers.
I have no plans for racing the car. the extra power is to frustrate boy racers in their Evo's ans STI's when they go to pass me when there is a double yellow line.

I dropped my trans pan. to find more metallic sediment and flakes. I guess now is good time to go to a th350 to free up some hp. vs, the th400. I guess im gonna sit it out a few weeks on this one.
