Had the TCI saturday night special torque converter installed 2day along with a set of rear vista cruiser coil springs to keep the rear end up. Should now be a better match up for the 3:42 gears, hedman headers and posi unit that was installed about a month or so ago. Lots of rubber out of second, little off the line, time to see if the new converter will pull it off the line better.

 

I think I can say I'm reaching 98% rust free lol

Nope just a body hammer and a vise
I cut the metal 2.5" wide and as long as we needed used a vise to bend in the middle then we clamped and shaped it in the channel then marked and cut off extra metal used a small grinder to clean up from there

 

2.5" Pypes with X-pipe, Street Pro Mufflers, Hedman Hedders...

 

I took a bold step and re-drilled the drivers seat holes in the floor back 3 inches!!! Im tired of wearing out the seat and my legs getting in and out, not to mention too close to the steering wheel.

 

removed the rear quarter windows, rear floor covering and tailgate glass from the 64 f85 wagon.. gonna need more sheet metal work than i first thought... but when do you ever need less than ya thought.. ha ha ha ha ha

 

Installed new cam bolt, oil slinger, front cover, water pump, oil pump and oil pan.

 

Removed the body off the frame and realized I have to cut out the entire trunk and weld a new one in, not what I was wanting to do but after 7 months of sitting and me not able to work on it it went from, I can fix that to NOT! Oh well just got to get busy on it! I am motivated by OLDSTATA!! Great job!! I have to get mine rust free!

Tear down is complete! (for this phase anyway) Got the motor and transmission pulled today, and now starts the scraping, cleaning, and painting....so much road grime!

 

Finally got the seals for the manual steering box, they charged me 6.00 each seal for shipping and a cost of 35.00 for the two seals, man I think I have been taken for a ride! But its like brand new again and its the original.

 

Got the body of the frame thanks to my friend Mark! Man was it hot with a heat index of 105 degrees. But we got it on the dolly!!! Now the hard work!!

 

Made the POS '85 drivable again with a new brake line / hose from prop valve to rear axle. Axle lines were already fresh. Now it has a working booster, master cylinder, AND rear brakes. Hope to test drive it soon. Distracted by repairs on the rest of the fleet.

Turns out one 30" and one 72" JUUUUUUST made the run.

Plus the car is about 10 lbs lighter now too [rust fell off]

 

Too all the interior out and cut heat barrier for the front floor board.
Took speedo gear housing off trans and ordered the o rings for it to seal it up.

 

I could not decide which green W machine to drive today...so I drove them BOTH!

 

Took mine to a show.

 

Fixed the rear brake issue and installed my cleaned up wheels!

I cleaned my wheels too however they were an old set of Keystones I had stashed away. I've never really been crazy about Keystones but everyone who stopped by today seemed to like them better than the SS's. What do you guys think? Yeah or nay?

I made my last metal patch, my right wheel we still had a 2"x2" hole and where they spot welded the original wheel well it was just un even. I made a patch to clean it up

 

Scraped the engine all down clean and painted about 3/4 of it from the bottom up, tomorrow I'll turn it over and paint the top and details.

 

The keystones have my vote they really compliment the car and they are classic like the Cragar SS mag wheels. We used to talk about it in the old days that a lighter color car really looked good with the keystones and darker cars looked good with the Cragars.

Also the black hood stripes go well with the gloss black inset on the keystones! Damn good looking car!!

 

Well I greased up all the windows today , they are nice and smooth now. I got the column ,shifter and bucket seats in it ( upgraded from bench seat) black door panels installed looking pretty good . All from my doner car.
Thanks to the help from another member here I got the brake lights working correctly but I'm still trying to figure out turn signal issues. Been a long day and back to work tomarrow so until next weekend .

Like the Keystones for a change. Cleaned my rims today too.

 

Wiring phone and DSL lines, checking the hoist, waiting for my steel cabinets to arrive.

And I seriously hope that I don't hit one of those $100.000 Porsches, the Jaguar, the Lambo or the Ferrari while working on my $1.99 car.

Most of this will be sanded off all my metal work there's no way I would turn it into a bidi beast now lol

 

Since the 9th of June I have been waiting for my rocker arm hold downs from Supercars unlimited and called three times and they were back ordered but coming in the next day. Finally I just said forget it it I'll get them somewhere else. Their web site says the regular hold downs are on back order so order the straps instead, but they don't tell you they are back ordered also, so basiclly waiting for nothing coming in the mail.
I found a whole set including new rocker arms for just a little more and ordered them.

 

It was rock chip repair day yesterday, looks like I got a few new ones on our trip last month. After cleaning and prepping I got the first coat on and sanded somewhat flush, today the second coat then and sand and polish. Car show Saturday she should be ready to go.....Tedd

 

I drove mine around a bit- ordered some new bf goodrich 225/70/14's all around, called Fusnick and ordered spare tire bracket, rod and wingnut.

Got all the sheetmetal in etch primer after it came back from the media blaster, got the bumper brackets, pedal assembly and other items sprayed as well today in semi gloss black, next step is the core support and fender wells. Looking Good!

Installed 6 brass freeze plugs in the block, put new O-rings on the speedo gear housing and re-installed.

 

Lots of sanding today I skimmed the Back panel . Also skimmed where the factory did led work to join the roof at the sail panel to even it out

The roof had a pretty bad hit at some point, welded up the screw pull holes got most of the dents out. Almost cought the car on fire trying to shrink the roof as there is some really flammable stuff between the roof and head liner so we worked it the best we could.

 

Washed and waxed my baby for our local annual Cruise Night and Saturday Car Show.
