What cfm
What cfm
My last car a 1963 Dynamic 88 was running a Edelbrock 750cfm carb and ran great, my new car a 1963 Starfire has got an Edelbrock 600cfm carb. Is this going to be man enough for the high compression 394ci. It does make a big sucking noise when you floor it!! Just wondering what you think.
You've maybe opened a few things up here. 1st is most carb manufacturers rate cfm flow at different negative pressures, and can also vary between 2bbl and 4bbl. Next would be head flow/cu in and rpm band. To simplify, if a 400 cube so so head flow low rpm street torque motor, 600 cfm carb should do it. For what sounds like a higher rpm/flow build you're doing, 750 4 bbl would be good. Cant stress enough the importance of dialing in carb and distributor tuning. Could make the difference of showing your tail lights or seeing theirs.
