Ok so Fedx just delivered my new welder and I need to get a tank of gas. How big should I get and how long does it last. The welder is a Lincoln Pro Mig 140.I just plan on making some body repairs and dont need a huge tank but I dont want to keep running back and forth to get more eather
Thanks
Gary

Don't go with the little short bottle. I'm not sure what the size is but the medium size bottle is perfect for the home shop.

I have (what Airgas calls) a Q80 tank. Its about 4 feet tall. Costs me 47$ to fill. Be careful about getting an empty tank somewhere for your first exchange. Suppliers can be real picky about the certifications.
It is a good size for me. I fill it about 3 times a year. Easy to move around with the smaller tank.

Thanks guys, there is an Airgas store near work I'll have to go in and check it out. I assume its like propane for the grill, do they sell you the tank and then you have them fill it?

Some places will sell you a tank but around here most won't you have to lease or rent it if I remember right it is about 7 to 10 dollars a month might have to pay like a deposit to plus the cost of the gas. Some farm stores have it too Rual King is the one here the actual gas was cheaper there but it was like 250.00 to get started

A lot of places rent you the tanks with a deposit on file so when you return it they hand you a full one and you don't have to worry about the tank expiring. If you buy your own they are only good for a certain period of time and they won't refill them after that date. Check around for prices too. There can be quite a bit of difference in price between suppliers.

I should of added this too wherever you go that is mostlikely where you will have to stay they won't fill eachothers tanks unless you switch suppliers completely
