water pump rebuilders

I have several factory water pumps that I'd like to get rebuilt. Searching this site, I wasn't able to locate anyone who has asked the question before. Looking for a place that will rebuild these. Anyone have any experience or leads on a place?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

These guys have rebuilt all the original water pumps for my cars. I have also had them do some master brake cylnders including some stainless steel sleeving work. They provide a great service. They are located in Hamilton, Ontario. Canada. Let me know if I can help.

Cheers,

Sam

Absolutely positively stay away from Kanter.

Otherwise 'you'll be sorrrrry'.

I've heard good things about Arthur Gould but never used them.

I used Arthur Gould Rebuilders recently on an original, shaft seized water pump.
Chris gave a quick response to my initial questions.
The work was done quickly and as per instructions.
Used parts were returned as requested.
Very satisfied with their work.
Cost was $75.

I would go back to them again.

Go with Gould they did mine many years ago and it still works fine. Quiet and no leaks yet.

I am involved with many clubs and discussion forums. My personal experience with Kanter was buying one of their 'complete kits', 'everything you need' for brake system rebuild when working on a F1 pickup. Surprise, surprise, many important pieces were missing. Fortunately most were available from Napa though did have to chase a few down from Speedway. I don't like being mislead but shame on me for not asking for a list of what is and isn't included. Lesson learned.

A good friend bought front end suspension parts for his mid 50s Buick. The cheap Chinese crap wore out in record time. I've heard that from many other persons too.

And then there's the issue of their 'customer service'. Here's highlights of someone's recent Kanter water pump experience from another forum:

To all who posted with the advice about Kanter you were correct. Unfortunately I had purchased the pump by the time I read the responses. It'll be going back and a rebuilder will be consulted.

Instead of just posting a complaint here is what was incorrect- the dimension for the mounting areas is too thin to properly mount the accessories by approximately 3/8 of an inch, the pulleys do not line up due to this and by the time you shim the pulley it will no longer index in the hub center, and the last bummer is the heater hose no longer comes out in the correct place. I rarely post a complaint, but my goodness this is really bad.
Then:

The Saga continues, Kanter won't return my calls to send it back. I'm going to send it and prove I did and then let the Credit Card Co. fight them.
And someone else chimed in:

Won't return your calls? That's because their return policy specifies:

1. All returns or exchanges must be authorized by Customer Service before sending back. Call us - We are here to help.

2. Items must be returned within 30 days from the date of receipt for exchange or refund.

Why do I have this feeling their Customer Service reps are instructed to ignore customers until its beyond the 30 day time limit?

But it says: "We are committed to the hobby and keeping the 'old fashioned' idea of outstanding service, quality and value.'

Did you try contacting their Legal Dept? Yes, they have a Legal Dept.
And more:

I purchased a pump for my 59 from Kanter last year. It fit ok, but was generic as it had a heater outlet on the side as well as 2 in the back. 6 months of use, right at 1000 miles, it is already leaking!
Try doing a web search you'll find more dissatisfied customers.

I used this guy for the Jetfire Water pump. Only a year old but works perfect. It was $100. I just got back another pump from him for my W-30 but have not used it yet. Also $100.
