walbro fuel pump 838 With pressure regulator

Anyone see one of these before? I was working on organizing in the basement and found this in a box that I had not opened since I bought the barn full of stuff a couple years ago. Has a date on it of 1986. What are the thoughts of it still being good? I wonder if the diaphragms dried out? Anyone know anything about them?

Used a lot of Walbro pumps, never saw one with a regulator. Pressure was only about 7 PSI on the ones I used. Had one on my 84 Ranger for 10 years. The ethanol gas finally ate up the diaphram. I wouldn't chance that one for gasoline, but handy to have around the shop if you need to empty a tank.

GREAT! I never even thought of that. I have two of these new and an old used AC electric pump. I think I will set me up one on a can for that reason. I always have fits with gas in a tank when i pull them and never even crossed my mind to do this. lol, The simplest things I can overlook sometimes.
