W31 engine code

Hey all,
I might have found a W31, the vin is 33687LAN335655 but I'm have difficulty decoding the W31 part. Any one got any ideas? Paint code and interior match, it has factory AC and everything else looks correct.

Much thanks

Sorry, but there is nothing on that tag that will tell you the car is a W31

A/C was not available on a W31, so that answers your question.

Thanks Joe,
Just out of curiosity would this from Barret Jackson be a clone then since it had AC. I would have thought they would do the research

BJ do research?? Ha Ha Ha. That's a good one.

So to the W-31 people out there. Is there really any way to verify a W-31? They were all built in Lansing right? Where they all within certain months etc?

From the 1969 W-machine brochure

I know this will be a shock to some people, but that car at BJ is not an original W31. The fact that the block VIN derivative matches does not mean that it is a W31 motor, since the only way to tell would be to tear it down and check the cam and valves, and even then, those can be added to any Olds 350 motor. Sorry, yet another BS BJ car.

(And before someone points it out, yeah, I realize the 1969 W32 wasn't rated at 360 HP)

Also, note that the 1969 "W31" at BJ has a 1970-72 console with a Pontiac dual gate mechanism. It probably wasn't even a floor shift car before it became a "W31".

If you read BJ's literature, it says they are not responsible for the accuracy of the description, which is provided by the seller. It is the buyer's responsibility to verify the claims of the seller.

One of reasons so many of their cars are sketchy.

I didn't realize that in '69 you could NOT get a W30 'vert or Holiday coupe like in '68 and '70+?

I didn't even notice that typo. That's kind of a big OOPS. Obviously Holiday Coupes could be ordered with W-30.

Engine cooling equipment meant shroud and clutch-fan. I wonder why those were verboten.

As far as I know, convertible w-30s existed in 68 on, and didn't in 66/67 due to the battery being in the trunk and in the way of the ragtop lowering.

RPO Y72 was prohibited because V01 HD cooling was mandatory and already included those parts.
